Neuro-Linguistic Programming was developed in the 1970s at the University of California. Its primary founders were John Grinder, a linguist, and Richard Bandler, an information scientist and mathematician.
NLP is a psychological approach that involves analysing strategies and applying them to reach a personal goal. It relates thoughts, language, and patterns of behaviour to specific outcomes, and offers a toolkit of approaches for dealing with life’s opportunities and challenges. It is a very practical discipline, concerned with bringing results into the real world.
NLP produces fast, lasting results and is used in a wide variety of fields, including counselling, medicine, law, business, the performing arts, sports, the military, and education.
NLP also seeks to build effective communication between conscious and unconscious mental processes, in order to help people increase creativity and problem-solving skills.
Since its creation, neuro-linguistic programming has been used to treat a wide range of issues. These include:
Anxiety, phobias, and panic
I typically use NLP in conjunction with EFT and Hypnotherapy.
